Hey Parents, Carers and schools

Is your child (or pupil) having a tough time socially or emotionally? Whether they’re feeling anxious, or angry, struggling to connect with family or peers, or facing challenges that may be called ‘school refusal’ or ‘Emotionally Based School Avoidance’ (EBSA), understanding what’s going on beneath the surface is an important step to helping them thrive.

My specialised psychological assessments are designed to gently explore what your child is experiencing. As a Child & Family Clinical Psychologist, with expertise in attachment, mental health and neurodiversity, my assessments provide a safe space for children to express their feelings and concerns. Through thoughtful conversations and activities we work to uncover the root of their struggles, whether it’s worry, low mood, social difficulties, trauma, or something else.

I create a safe space to get to know your child

To ensure our assessments are as comprehensive as possible, we also include conversations with those who know your child well, including yourself as parent/carer, as well as teachers from school. These aspects of the assessment can offer valuable insights into a child’s emotional world, helping to further identify and understand what your child needs.

Once I have gathered all of this information together, I write a detailed report, usually shared with you within 2-3 weeks. My reports have been well regarded by local schools and agencies, and provide the professional evidence needed to strongly advocate for your child’s needs. This will include practical strategies to support their mental health and wellbeing both at school and at home, along with recommendations of suitable educational provision where relevant to support EHC Plans, Needs Assessments or Expert evidence for SEND Appeal / Tribunal.

feel better and succeed

Families and schools often say that these reports provide an important step in ensuring that children and students receive the care and support they need to feel better and succeed. Reports can be used as evidence towards Educational Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and as evidence for SEND Appeal and Tribunals.

Working collaboratively means together we can support your child to build resilience, develop healthy coping skills, and find their way back to a happier and meaningful life with an education that really meets their needs.
